Newcastle University
For the last 10 years, I've been helping Newcastle University train and equip the next generation of journalists, teaching on the multimedia journalism masters programme, but also creating extra-curricular projects for experience and experimentation

Civic Journalism Lab
I am the director of a venture, supported by the university, which brings together student, professional and community journalists to learn, share and collaborate. We hold regular panel discussions, masterclasses and hack-days. You can find out more by listening to the J-Lab podcast.

JesmondLocal
Since 2010, I've been recruiting a dozen volunteer reporters to work on hyperlocal news site JesmondLocal, and we learn together how to deliver responsible journalism to local communities in an age of social and multi-media.

Project Turnaround
In 2011, I led a team of Newcastle students, alumni, staff and school pupils at the BALTIC gallery to create a magazine in just 48 hours about the Turner Prize that was being awarded there. You can read the final magazine here.
